Batteries & charging system

A dead car on a January morning is usually a battery, but not always. Replacing a good battery because the alternator was failing is a common and expensive mistake, so we test the whole system before recommending anything.

The test takes about ten minutes and covers battery state of charge and health, alternator output under load, starter draw and cable condition. It is free, whether you go ahead with a repair or not.

If the battery is the problem we stock the common group sizes and can usually have you back on the road within an hour. Batteries we install carry a free-replacement warranty of three years on most models and we register them for you. Modern cars also need the new battery registered with the body control module so the charging system adjusts to it; we do that as part of the job.

Alternators, starters and cables are diagnosed and quoted separately. We use new or remanufactured parts from suppliers we trust and all of it is covered by the same 36-month / 36,000-mile warranty as everything else we do.

Nebraska winters are hard on batteries. If yours is more than four years old, have it tested in October.
